leaves, monoprint and collage, aceos

Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you.
You must travel it by yourself.
It is not far. It is within reach.
Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know.
Perhaps it is everywhere - on water and land.

Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

I found this old "my travels" book at a local outdoor market this past summer. It's about pocket size and has these lovely, beige pages inside. They seemed like a perfect background for monoprint leaves.

The other two aceos are a collage of papers that I had kept in a jar. I hadn't planned on these being a set. As I was thumbing through them, I realized the colors and shapes go really well together. Now, I've just got to frame them and they'll be a bit of sunshine on a winter morning.

  1. Beautiful colors and textures. I like the idea of keeping collage paper in a jar like an ingredient waiting to be mixed up and used. What are you going to do with the cards? :)

  2. The leaves representing the journey are so clever and look incredibly beautiful. It's a wonderful series and you're right, when framed will be incredible. Great job!

  3. Your mono prints are gorgeous, and I really like the idea of doing them on the travel journal pages.. I especially like the one in which you accentuated the leave's veins with black. Blessings!

  4. Wonderful palette and love the abstract and the emphasized leaves ~ Will make a very sunny display ~

  5. So sunny, delightful and fresh, love it!

  6. i love the colors, especially love the yellow leaves! happy sunday!

  7. I like the monoprints on the old journal pages. They would make very good background, should you decide to use them for layered work. Otherwise, they look really good on their own too!

  8. This piece reminds me of the wonderful lemon lime decos I used to work it. LOVE those two colors together. So fresh and inspiring.

  9. I really like this alot as well as the verse below it. Your ACEOs are wonderful and full of life.

  10. These are wonderful, Juana! Nice book--the lines are fun. The color choices are delicious! :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

  11. wrightstuff, I hadn't put the connection together that the leaves could represent a journey!

auroran, I'm thinking of framing them and keeping them in my collection.

hwee, good idea about using the monoprints for journal additions.

thanks everyone for your lovely comments.
